Many tourists who have been to Turkey at least once have thought about extending their vacation for a few more months, or even years. Foreign citizens arriving here on a tourist visa can stay in the country from 30 to 90 days. Those who want to stay for a longer period of time or get the opportunity to officially work, need to obtain a
residence permit – a temporary residence permit or ikamet.
After obtaining an ikamet you can legally stay in Turkey for more than 90 days, as well as leave and enter the country at any time an unlimited number of times, as long as the residence permit is valid.
There are six types of residence permits. We will consider a short-term residence permit, which is issued for a period of one to two years. It can be obtained by tourists coming to the country, owners or tenants of real estate, students and foreign citizens coming for medical treatment
The list of documents may differ depending on the type of residence permit.
A tourist residence permit does not give the right to work in Turkey.
You can apply for an ikamet, extend it and track the status of the application on the official website https://e-ikamet.goc.gov.tr.
